Expecting

I expect only life in the world today
I suspect many lifers here can’t relate
Though I demand some things to be replayed
All the little things stand in my way

I expect only fear could give way to hope
I regret more than you’d ever care to know
Like a house full of nothing on an empty walk
Knock.
     Listen.
          Nothing talks.

I expect certain words when I read a book
I accept only smiles when they want to look
I’d ask but there’s no one around to hear
How exceptional life can dry a tear

If you expect me to write down the words I say
Then neglect me because I can’t find a way
Through this maze we call life running through my mind
Then expect to not expect anything I find
